5/10 – NBA Playoffs: More Declines Tuesday Night

Viewership declined for the 2012 NBA Playoffs once again Tuesday night. Game 5 of the Nuggets/Lakers first round NBA playoff series drew 4.195 million viewers on TNT Tuesday night, down 28% from Hornets/Lakers Game 5 last year (5.837M), and down 10% from Thunder/Lakers Game 5 in 2010 (4.685M). Earlier in the night, Celtics/Hawks Game 5 drew 3.687 million — down a more modest 9% from Pacers/Bulls Game 5 last year (4.061M), and down 13% from Bulls/Cavaliers Game 5 in 2010 (4.244M). So far this postseason, 14 of 19 telecasts on TNT have suffered declines in viewership compared to last year. Overall, 21 of the 29 NBA playoff telecasts on ESPN/ABC and TNT (excludes Sunday’s ABC doubleheader) have suffered declines compared to last year, reports Sports Media Watch.
