The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Monday that they have declined to be featured on this year’s version of the HBO show Hard Knocks. There’s a chance there won’t even be a Hard Knocks for the 2011-12 season, given the NFL lockout situation and that teams may be forced to have a condensed training camp schedule. Given the Carolina Panthers selected controversial QB Cam Newton with the first overall pick, the team may be the next choice for HBO’s show this summer. Covering Newton will be bring in huge ratings as he has already received an inordinate amount of media coverage and scrutiny.
