With one political convention underway and the other set for next week, CBS News Radio has updated its iPhone app with a new stream of uninterrupted coverage of special events, speeches, and other news conferences from the scene.
CBS News Radio VP Harvey Nagler says the upgraded app “will seamlessly take listeners from the convention floor to news hot spots around the globe.” With less than three months until Election Day, a short-form Eye on the White House feature has been added. It’s one of more than 30 podcasts available through the app, which gives users the ability to tell friends what they’re listening to via Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr and to view headlines from the radio network’s Twitter feed.
Positioned as “the breaking news network you can take anywhere,” the app includes news briefs in text form, intended for sharing via Twitter, Facebook and email. Audio newscasts, news briefs and audio from CBS News programs, such as “60 Minutes” and “Face The Nation,” can also be shared, reports Inside Radio.
