BILL MACATEE ASSUMES LEAD PLAY-BY-PLAY ROLE FOR CBS SPORTS’ COVERAGE OF 2012 U.S. OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

CBS Sports’ Bill Macatee assumes the lead play-by-play role joining Mary Carillo and John McEnroe in the broadcast booth for the CBS Television Network’s coverage of the 2012 U.S. Open Tennis Championships. The announcement was made by Sean McManus, Chairman, CBS Sports.

“Bill Macatee is a natural choice to assume the role of lead tennis play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports,” said McManus. “He is a highly-respected, talented and versatile announcer who has been a fixture on CBS Sports’ U.S. Open Tennis broadcasts for 15 years and has called all four Grand Slam events during his career. Bill will be the perfect complement to John McEnroe and Mary Carillo in the booth.”

In addition, CBS Sports’ coverage of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships will see Ian Eagle call play-by-play alongside Jim Courier, and Chris Wragge will serve as a contributor for the Network’s studio updates throughout the two weeks.
