Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau hasn’t officially made that announcement but admitted that he knows what direction he wants to go in, and that direction would be Michal Neuvirth according to a source familiar with the team. Neuvirth, who picked up his fifth straight victory Tuesday night by beating the Maple Leafs in a shootout, appears poised to at least be Washington’s Game 1 starter when the playoffs begin. Semyon Varlamov,who has suffered from major lower body injuries this season, has played well sparingly in recent weeks. So don’t be surprised that if Neuvirth struggles early, Boudreau will quickly pull the trigger to make the goalie change.
