The 3.3 overnight is the highest of the season for a Major League Baseball telecast on FOX. The previous high was a 2.8 for primetime coverage on June 2. Overall, the 3.3 is the fifth-highest for a primetime MLB telecast on FOX (thirteen telecasts). Of the five highest-rated primetime telecasts on FOX in the metered markets, three featured the Yankees against the Mets. FOX likely benefited from the lack of competition Saturday night. Whereas previous windows faced the NBA Conference Finals, Stanley Cup Final, and golf’s U.S. Open, Saturday’s window aired opposite the U.S. Olympic Trials on NBC (1.3 overnight for diving, 2.6 for track & field), reports Sports Media Watch.
