NHL NETWORK AND NHL.COM COVERAGE PLANS FOR 2012 NHL DRAFT   Featuring Live Streams on NHL.com, Special Edition Shows, And Special Guests

NEW YORK  – NHL Network™ and NHL.com will provide comprehensive coverage of the 2012 NHL Draft™ taking place at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

Starting tonight at 7:00 p.m., ET, the 2012 NHL Draft™ coverage begins with a special edition of NHL Tonight: 2012 Mock Draft. Brian Duff, alongside former Calgary Flames General Manager Craig Button and Draft expert Peter Loubardias, will make their picks for the first round of Friday’s draft. They will have features, breakdowns and analysis of each team’s needs and strategies in filling their team’s needs for the upcoming season.

Following NHL Tonight is the 2012 NHL Scouting Combine Recap Show Presented By Reebok hosted by Duff and Button.  The NHL Scouting Combine™, which took place in early June in Toronto, is a forum for Clubs to evaluate the fitness and strength of the NHL’s future stars and interview those players one-on-one ahead of the draft selection process.  The recap show features interviews with top-ranked prospects, all-access video with trainers and doctors and behind-the-scenes footage from the grueling VO2 (volume of oxygen) testing station.

Coverage continues on Friday, June 22, at 5:00 p.m., ET with the 2012 NHL Draft Preshow hosted by Kathryn Tappen and Brian Duff, featuring Craig Button, Peter Loubardias, EJ Hradek, and Bob Mckenzie live from the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh. The show will focus on interviews with the projected top five Draft picks, player profiles and team draft histories, highlights of their mock draft and predictions, interviews with players, general managers, and scouts from the draft floor and will bring viewers up-to-speed on all the latest NHL news and transactions.

Round 1 of the NHL Draft will be carried live on NBC Sports Network in the United States and TSN and RDS in Canada, beginning at 7:00 p.m., ET, on Friday. NHL Network and CNBC will then telecast the third hour of Round 1 starting at 9:00 p.m., ET. Immediately following the conclusion of Round 1 on Friday night, NHL Network’s Tappen hosts the 2012 NHL Draft Round 1 Recap show for post-Draft reactions, highlights of the night, interviews, and analysis of Club picks and a preview of the Draft’s second day.

On Day 2, NHL Network will be the exclusive carrier of Rounds 2 through 7 of the NHL Draft beginning at 10:00 a.m., ET, hosted by Tappen and Duff, which will be followed by a special edition of NHL Tonight wrapping up the NHL Draft from both Pittsburgh and Toronto.

On the web, NHL.com will have wall-to-wall coverage of top drafts prospects, a look at draft history of each team, mock drafts from our experts,  live streaming of the Mock Draft, NHL Draft Preshow, NHL Draft Round 1 Recap, and NHL Draft Rounds 2 through 7 in their entirety, plus pick-by-pick coverage.
