5/31 – Another 6.6 Overnight For Celtics/ Heat Game 2

ESPN earned another strong overnight rating for the Celtics/Heat series, though the numbers continue to trail Heat/Bulls last year. Game 2 of the Celtics/Heat NBA Eastern Conference Finals drew a 6.6 overnight on ESPN Wednesday night, up 29% from Thunder/Mavericks Game 2 on a Thursday night last year (5.1), and up 16% from Celtics/Magic Game 2 on a Tuesday night in 2010 (5.7). Compared to Game 2 between the Heat and Bulls on TNT last year, the 6.6 overnight marks an 11% decline from a 7.4 overnight. Wednesday’s game drew a 21.9 rating in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, down 2% from Heat/Bulls Game 2 last year (22.4), but the highest rating ever for an NBA playoff game on ESPN in the market. Monday’s Game 1 (21.5) was also down from Heat/Bulls last year (23.3). In Boston, Game 2 drew a 15.2 rating, reports Sports Media Watch.
