4/30 – NASCAR From Richmond Ratings Underwhelm

Overnight ratings held steady for Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race from Richmond. Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Capital City 400 from Richmond drew a 3.4 overnight rating on FOX, even with last year (3.4) and 2010 (3.4). The 3.4 overnight is tied as the second-lowest ever for NASCAR on FOX, ahead of only the 2009 Subway Fresh Fit 500 from Phoenix (3.3). In addition, the 3.4 is tied as the lowest for the spring race from Richmond since it moved to FOX in 2007. Despite the low numbers, Saturday’s race was the third-highest rated sporting event of the weekend on broadcast in the metered markets, trailing only the Nuggets/Lakers (3.9) and Knicks/Heat (3.8) NBA playoff games on ABC, reports Sports Media Watch.
