MLB Network Showcase Continues with Five Games Called by Bob Costas, Jim Kaat, John Smoltz, Matt Vasgersian and Tom Verducci
Memorial Day Coverage to Include Two Live Games and More Than 10 Live Hours Starting at 1:00 p.m. ET on Monday, May 28
Secaucus, N.J., April 25, 2012 – Thirty live games make up MLB Network’s game schedule from Tuesday, May 1 through Saturday, June 2, including seven doubleheaders, five matinee games and two Interleague Play matchups.
As previously announced, MLB Network Showcase will begin the month of May withMatt Vasgersian and John Smoltz calling the Philadelphia Phillies at the Atlanta Braves. On May 11, MLB Network’s Intentional Talk with Chris Rose and Kevin Millarwill air live from Rangers Ballpark in Arlington at 5:00 p.m. ET, followed by Vasgersian and Smoltz on the game call at 8:00 p.m. ET as the American League-leading Texas Rangers host their AL West rivals, the Anaheim Angels, for the first time this season. Vasgersian and Jim Kaat will call Interleague Play as the Boston Red Sox visit the Phillies on May 18 at 7:00 p.m. ET, and on May 24, Bob Costas will be joined in the broadcast booth by Tom Verducci for a rematch of the 2011 NLDS series between the Phillies and the St. Louis Cardinals. The MLB Network Showcase schedule rounds out on June 1 with Costas and Smoltz on the call for a rematch of last year’s ALDS between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers. Sam Ryan will report from four of the five games, with Verducci serving as the on-field reporter for the Angels at Rangers game on May 11.
During the last week of May, MLB Network will twice feature 2011 NL MVP Ryan Braunand the Milwaukee Brewers as they visit 2011 NL MVP runner-up Matt Kemp and the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 29 and May 31 at 10:00 p.m. ET, marking Braun’s first time playing in Los Angeles in 2012.
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, MLB Network will air more than 10 hours of live coverage, starting with a matinee game featuring the Cardinals against the Braves at 1:00 p.m. ET. The game will be followed by the Emmy-Award winning MLB Tonight, which will lead up to the Yankees at the Angels at 9:00 p.m. ET. Following the Yankees at Angels game, MLB Network’s regular season highlights show of record, Quick Pitch, will recap the day’s action.
MLB Network’s complete game schedule through June 2 is available below. Games will be blacked out in each team’s home television territory unless otherwise announced. Viewers in areas subject to blackouts will be provided with an alternate game telecast or other programming.
