4/9 – ESPN’s First Sunday Night Baseball Game On Par With Last Year

The season’s first edition of Sunday Night Baseball held steady in the overnight ratings on Sunday. Sunday’s White Sox/Rangers Major League Baseball regular season game drew a 1.4 overnight rating on ESPN, flat compared to last year’s first Sunday night game (SF/LAD: 1.4, ESPN2), which aired opposite the Women’s Final Four. The 2012 Major League Baseball season began one week later than last year. The game on the comparable date last year — Yankees/Red Sox — drew a 3.5 overnight. Locally, Sunday’s game scored an 8.5 rating in Dallas-Ft. Worth, the market’s highest rating on record for a regular season MLB telecast on ESPN, reports Sports Media Watch.
