4/2 – Bulls/Thunder Hits Season-Low

The NBA on ABC returned from an NCAA Tournament hiatus Sunday with double-digit increases in overnight ratings. Sunday’s Heat/Celtics NBA regular season game drew a 3.3 overnight rating on ABC, up 10% from Nuggets/Lakers last year (3.0), and up a tick from Spurs/Lakers in 2010 (3.2). Earlier in the day, Bulls/Thunder drew a 2.3 overnight, up 53% from last year’s Suns/Spurs game (1.5), but down 15% from Cavaliers/Celtics in 2010 (2.7). The 2.3 overnight for Bulls/Thunder is easily the lowest of the season for the NBA on ABC. The previous low was a 3.1 for Bulls/Celtics in February. Locally, the game drew a 12.1 rating in Oklahoma City — the highest ever for a regular season NBA game on ABC in the market, reports Sports Media Watch.
