3/27 – Auto Club 500 Earns Lowest Overnight In Years

Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Auto Club 500 from Fontana drew a 3.4 overnight rating on FOX, down 17% from the same race last year (4.1), and down 19% from the comparable Food City 500 in 2010 (4.2). The 3.4 overnight is easily the lowest of the season for a NASCAR race on FOX, and also marks the lowest overnight for the Auto Club 500 since at least 1998 (overnights prior to 1999 were not available). Keep in mind this is only the second year the Auto Club 500 has aired opposite the NCAA Tournament. So far this season, four of the first five NASCAR Sprint Cup telecasts on FOX have suffered declines in overnight ratings, reports Sports Media Watch.
