On The Next Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel entitled the “State of College Sports in America,” the show’s correspondents examine the controversial role of today’s NCAA, and the recruiting practices employed by the schools. For NFL teams considering whether to draft former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, the report examines whether Newton’s father asked Auburn for money when Newton was choosing a school. The episode will reportedly feature two interviews. One with Mississippi State booster Kenny Rogers, who was the one that fingered Cecil Newton in the pay for play scheme, and another with former Auburn football player Stanley McClover who will claim during the interview that an Auburn assistant coach provided him extra benefits that would be considered a violation of NCAA rules. The episode airs tonight, March 30 at 10 pm EST.
