ESPN earned a 3.1 overnight rating for Duke/North Carolina on Saturday night, down a tick from last year’s comparable meeting between the rivals (DUKE/UNC: 3.2, CBS), but up 82% from the comparable game in 2010 (UNC/DUKE: 1.7, ESPN).The 3.1 is the highest overnight for a men’s college basketball game on ESPN since Duke/North Carolina in March 2008. Despite airing on cable, Saturday’s game drew almost the same rating as last year’s late season game between the teams, which aired on broadcast network CBS, reported by Sports Media Watch.
