3/5 – Tiger Lifts Honda Classic to Ten-Year High

Tiger Woods‘ presence in the Honda Classic resulted in a ten-year high in overnight ratings for the event. Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Honda Classic, in which Woods finished second, earned a 3.2 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon — up 78% from both last year (1.8) and 2010 (1.8). The 3.2 overnight is the highest for final round coverage of the event since 2002 (3.4). This marks just the second time in the past decade that overnight ratings have increased for final round coverage of the Honda Classic. The last such occurrence was in 2007, when the 2.5 overnight marked a slight increase from a 2.4 the previous year. On Saturday, third round action drew a 1.9 overnight, up 27% from last year (1.5), and up 36% from 2010 (1.4). The 1.9 overnight is the highest for third round coverage of the event since 2005 (2.0), reported by Sports Media Watch.
