2/15 – Ryan to Retire From Boston Globe

Longtime Boston Globe writer Bob Ryan has announced plans to retire from the paper later this year. Ryan will retire from the Boston Globe at the end of the 2012 London Olympics, it was announced Tuesday. Though Ryan will remain with the paper in a part-time capacity, he told an ESPN.com podcast that he will be “scaling it way back” (espn.com, 2/14). It was not immediately known whether Ryan would continue to contribute to ESPN. Saying his “time has come and gone,” Ryan reflected positively on his four-decade career. “I very happily say I’ve had a great run,” he told the aforementioned podcast, adding that it is “time for somebody else to have their run,“ according to Sports Media Watch.
