2/2 – 2012 NHL All-Star Game Ratings Slightly Down This Year

After last year’s seven-year high, viewership declined for the 2012 NHL All-Star Game. Sunday’s NHL All-Star Game earned a 0.8 U.S. rating and 1.317 million viewers on NBC Sports Network, flat in ratings and down 11% in viewership from last year (0.8, 1.481M), but up 33% and 21%, respectively, from the 2009 game (0.6, 1.087M). Due to the Winter Olympics, there was no All-Star Game in 2010. Though down from last year, this marks the second-most viewed NHL All-Star Game ever on NBC Sports Network (previously Versus), and the league’s most-viewed All-Star Game overall since 2004 (2.681M, ABC). On Saturday, the NHL SuperSkills Competition drew a 0.6 and 1.104 million viewers, down 14% in ratings and 7% in viewership from last year (0.7, 1.183M), and up 20% and 26%, respectively, from 2009 (0.5, 875K), according to Sports Media Watch.
