“With the start of the Major League Baseball season just days away, Forbes magazine has ranked the Washington Nationals as No. 16 on its list of baseball’s most valuable teams, with the Baltimore Orioles checking in at No. 18. The publication estimates the Nationals’ value at $417 million, up 8% from a year ago, citing promising young players like Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper, as well as their signing of free agent outfielder Jayson Werth. The Orioles had an estimated value of $411 million (up 9), based on the hiring of manager Buck Showalter and addition of sluggers Vladimir Guerrero, Derek Lee and Mark Reynolds. The New York Yankees topped the list for the 14th straight year, with a value of $1.7 billion,” according to Potomac Tech Wire.
