12/12 – ‘Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel’ Roundtable Review of 2011 Debuts Dec. 20

Completing its 17th season, REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL presents a special holiday roundtable review of 2011 on the show’s 177th edition, debuting TUESDAY, DEC. 20 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) and available in HDTV, exclusively on HBO. Departing from the show’s regular format, host Bryant Gumbel leads correspondents Mary Carillo, Frank Deford, Jon Frankel, Bernard Goldberg, Armen Keteyian and Andrea Kremer in a spirited roundtable discussion of 2011, touching on everything from favorite stories of the year to the interviews and segments that had the greatest impact on them. Among the topics covered are:  NHL enforcers and how their careers have affected their lives off of the ice; injured war veterans who compete as members of the Wounded Warriors softball team despite amputations and debilitating injuries; smokeless tobacco in Major League Baseball; and compensation for college football players.  Individuals profiled on REAL SPORTS this year whose stories will be discussed include:  Plaxico Burress, Mike Tyson, Jimmy Rollins, LaRue Martin and Tiki Barber.
