7/22 – Qumar Has More Time to Go to White Castle

Listeners to NextMedia Group’s news-talk WKRS (1220) in suburban Chicago got an unexpected look behind the curtain last Friday night.  Lake County Fielders play-by-play announcer Qumar Zaman had a “take this job and shove it moment” live on-air. Zaman says he took the job when the team called him in a pinch and then the ball club didn’t pay him money he was owed.  “They didn’t pay me all the money owed to me, and that’s why I’m leaving right now,” he said, adding he had no hard feeling with WKRS.   Zaman says he’s had to rely on handouts from coaches to pay for meals and airfare.  “I did not need this job… I don’t want this job anymore,” he told listeners before saying goodbye and walking away from the mic.  The Fielders appear to have even bigger financial troubles.  The team’s manager has also quit over money issues, according to Inside Radio.
