Thursday Night Football could expand to a full season under a proposal for a new collective bargaining agreement. ESPN.com reported Tuesday that the NFL may increase the number of Thursday night regular season games from nine (eight on NFL Network, one on NBC) to sixteen starting in 2014. The additional Thursday night games are reportedly part of a proposed collective bargaining agreement that was “pitched to owners” on Tuesday. Though owners were updated on CBA talks during a Tuesday meeting, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the topic of a full-season Thursday night package did not come up.The full-season slate would not necessarily air on just one network. USA Today suggests the Thursday night games could be split between two networks, much in the same way ESPN and TNT shared Sunday Night Football in the 1990s. In addition, NBC Sports’ website reported Tuesday that NFL Network could retain half of the package, according to SMW.
