The crown jewel of the IndyCar season had a modest increase in overnight ratings on ABC. The 2011 Indianapolis 500 earned a 4.3 overnight rating on ABC, up 7% from last year (4.0), and up a tick from 2009 (4.2). The 4.3 is the third-lowest overnight for the race since at least 1995, ahead of only last year and ’09. Sunday’s race outdrew the NASCAR Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600 on FOX (4.0), although it is highly likely that the NASCAR race will finish on top when the final numbers are released, according to SMW.
