Leidos Buys Naming Rights for Ripken Stadium

Leidos, a Reston-based provider of national security, health and engineering services, has bought the naming rights for Ripken Stadium, home of theAberdeen Ironbirds baseball team of the New York-Penn League. Financial terms of the multi-year deal were not disclosed. The stadium now will be known as Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium. “We support many customers in the Aberdeen Proving Ground area and many of our employees live there as well. Teaming with the IronBirds is a great opportunity to expand our presence,” said Leidos CEO Roger Krone. “We have found sports engagements like this, and our partnership with MLS team D.C. United, to be an effective way to brand our company.” The Ironbirds, the short-season Single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, open their home season June 19 against the Hudson Valley Renegades, reports Potomac Tech Wire.
