Steelers/Titans Monday Night Football Gets an 8.5 Overnight

Monday Night Football recovered from last week’s season-low, but ended up with its biggest decline of the year.

The Week 11 Steelers/Titans Monday Night Football game drew an 8.5 overnight rating on ESPN, down 24% from Patriots/Panthers last year (11.2), down 9% from Bears/49ers in 2012 (9.3), and tied as the third-lowest MNF overnight of the season.

Due in large part to last year’s strong performance, the Steelers’ close win had the season’s biggest year-over-year decline for Monday Night Football. The previous mark was a 21% drop for the season opener between the Giants and Lions.

With that said, the game marked a solid improvement over Panthers/Eagles the previous week, which tied a season-low with a 7.8 overnight.

The ESPN telecast drew a 12.8 rating in Pittsburgh and a 9.5 in Nashville. The game was simulcast on local affiliates in both markets, earning a 25.5 on Pittsburgh ABC affiliate WTAE and a 17.0 on Nashville ABC affiliate WKRN. Las Vegas (14.4) was the top neutral market, followed by New Orleans (13.4) and San Diego (13.1), reports Sports Media Watch.
