Olbermann Not Back for TBS 2014 MLB Postseason Coverage

Keith Olbermann will not make a return appearance on Turner Sports’ Major League Baseball playoff coverage.

Turner Sports announced its broadcast teams for the 2014 MLB Postseason on Thursday, with MLB Network’sCasey Stern replacing Olbermann in the studio. Stern will work alongside returning analysts Pedro Martinez andGary Sheffield.

Turner’s one-year deal with Olbermann included an option for a second, but the parties evidently decided not to exercise it. The baseball playoffs, some may recall, kept Olbermann off of his ESPN2 show for a month last year, reports Sports Media Watch.

The rest of the Turner line-up is mostly unchanged. Ernie Johnson will serve as the lead play-by-play voice, joined by Ron Darling and Cal Ripken. Matt Winer will work the sidelines in place of Craig Sager, who missed the NBA Playoffs due to a battle with cancer earlier this year.

Brian Anderson, Dennis Eckersley and Joe Simpson will serve as the ‘B’ team for Turner Sports, with Jamie Maggio on the sidelines.

Due to the new MLB TV deal, Turner will cover only the American League playoff games this year — meaning there will be no third and fourth broadcast team.
