The Washington Redskins will attempt to acquire QB Kyle Orton from Denver, in a move by Washington to bring in another mobile quarterback to compete with current roster QBs Rex Grossman and John Beck, according to a source familiar with the team. The Redskins notably did not draft a QB in any round of the 2011 draft, and with the imminent release of Donovan McNabb, the team will look to have at least three viable QBs on the roster to compete for the starting job. Of course the road block will be the compensation Washington and Denver will have to give up. It’s likely the Broncos will have to pay a portion of Orton’s contract, which could be up to $10 million next season. If the Broncos pay 2 or 3 million, they could get a 2nd round pick or similar value in return. The Broncos now have Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn at the QB position, so carrying another potential starting QB does not seem likely, and could bring in some valuable trade equity in next year’s draft.
