Groupon, the Chicago-based group buying service and chief rival of DC-based LivingSocial, said it has launched a joint venture with music promoter Live Nation Entertainment, creating a new online ticketing deals service. The service, to be known as GrouponLive, will offer deals on tickets sold through Live Nation’s Ticketmaster unit in North America, beginning with the summer concert season. Ted Leonsis, the owner of the Wizards and Capitals and vice chairman emeritus of AOL, also is a prominent Groupon investor.
