Gus Johnson, 43, is headed to Fox as a National Football League and college football play-by-play announcer, after CBS declined to match the offer, according to e-mails from Christian Gesue, his marketing agent. Johnson, noted for his over-the-top and boisterous play-by-play calls of college basketball particularly during March Madness, was with CBS since 1995. Fox Sports last week signed a 12-year deal along with Walt Disney Co.’s ESPN to carry college basketball and college football games from the Pac-10 conference. Johnson will continue calling college basketball for the Big Ten network.
