11/1 – Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic Adds Nicole Darin


NICOLE  DARIN JOINS COMCAST SPORTSNET AS ANCHOR AND REPORTER

Bethesda, Md. (Nov. 1, 2012) – Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, the region’s leading source for multiplatform sports coverage, has named Nicole Darin anchor and reporter. She begins her new role Nov. 5.

Darin, who has more than six years of sports media experience, joins a veteran team of anchors, reporters and digital media journalists who provide comprehensive regional sports coverage for Comcast SportsNet. In her new position, she will serve as an anchor and reporter for Comcast SportsNet’s daily news program, SportsNet Central, and will contribute to the network’s other sports news and entertainment programming.

Darin joins the network from Comcast SportsNet Chicago, where she has served as a freelance anchor and reporter since September. Prior to that, she was a sports anchor and reporter for WTSP-TV (CBS) in Tampa, Fla. In addition to anchoring WTSP’s daily sports segments and covering area teams and events, she co-hosted professional and college football pre- and post-game shows and led a weekly sports program.

Before joining WTSP-TV, Darin spent time as an anchor and reporter covering professional, college and high school sports in Charlotte, N.C., for WBTV-TV (CBS). She also gained experience as sports director for WCBL-TV (CN2 News) in Rock Hill, S.C., and KAWE-TV (PBS) in Bemidji, Minn., where she led the stations’ sports coverage. Darin began her television career with KRDO-TV (ABC) in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she was a reporter and producer for two years.

A Bronx, N.Y., native, Darin graduated from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, with a communications degree. As a student, she was a broadcasting intern for Altitude Sports & Entertainment, assisting with the regional sports network’s coverage of the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets.
