The Week 8 edition of “Monday Night Football,” pitting the 49ers against the Cardinals, drew an 8.3 overnight rating on ESPN — down 5% from Chargers/Chiefs last year (8.7), and down 4% from Texans/Colts in 2010 (8.6).
The 8.3 overnight is the fourth-lowest of the season for “MNF” (nine telecasts), ahead of only Lions/Bears in Week 7 (7.3), Chargers/Raiders in Week 1 (7.9) and Ravens/Bengals in Week 1 (8.1).
Due to inclement weather, top TV markets such as New York (#1), Philadelphia (#4), Boston (#7), and Washington, D.C. (#8) were excluded from the numbers.
Monday’s game drew a 20.3 rating in Phoenix (12.2 on ESPN, 8.1 on local affiliate) and an 18.0 in the Bay Area (7.4 on ESPN, 10.6 on local affiliate), reports Sports Media Watch.
