4/19 – Boudreau Coming Off As Whining Baby

Capitals Head Coach Bruce Boudreau should worry more about his team’s performance than officiating, fans, and stadium facilities.  Talking about the Madison Square Garden facility, Boudreau said “Well, the one thing, its reputation is far better than the actual building,” the coach said. “I mean, it’s nothing. The locker rooms are horrible. The benches are horrible. There’s no room for anything. But the reputation of being in Madison Square Garden is what makes it famous. Also, our building’s a lot louder, too. So I mean, they can say what they want, but it’s not that loud in there.” Boudreau also commented on the officiating, “So what they do is they can warn the other guys that this is what the other team’s talking about and look out for it, but that’s pretty well what you can do. I mean, the refs are very serious about this too, this is their playoffs too, their Stanley Cup, so they don’t want to make any mistakes. But it happens.” On one hand, Caps fans can appreciate a coach acting like a fan complaining about everything about that game that did not go right including the outdated facilities, but sports are about results, not excuses. Everyone knows that the Caps have a deep, talented roster, that can compete and beat any team in the league, but if the team stumbles again in the playoffs, Boudreau’s excuses will only take him so far.  A boss like Ted Leonsis didn’t become a multi-million dollar business leader by accepting excuses, so it will interesting to see how long this duo will last if the results are not markedly better for this year’s playoffs.
