3/29 – DC Ranked as Nation’s “Most Depressed” Baseball City; Baltimore Third

“Washington DC, whose Nationals have finished in last place all but one year since relocating from Montreal in 2005, is the unhappiest Major League Baseball city, according to new analysis by Seattle-based Avvo, a provider of online ratings for doctors and lawyers. Baltimore, which last won the World Series in 1983, ranked third on the list, which is based on nine categories such as psychiatrists and divorce lawyers per capita, unemployment rate, drinking rate, suicide rate and the number of days the city’s team has been eliminated from first place contention. “Baseball fans are incredibly passionate about their teams so it’s no surprise they suffer from bouts of depression and disappointment after a big loss or after the seemingly endless succession of losing seasons,” said Mark Britton, the CEO of Avvo,” according to Potomac Tech Wire.
