Both Chris Knocke, the radio color analyst for Maryland men’s basketball, and Duane Simpkins, a former Terp player and current DC high school basketball coach, called into The Mike Wise Show with Holden Kushner on 106.7 the Fan in DC, to defend the coaching ability and recruiting record of Gary Williams. Over the past couple seasons, fan and media criticism of the basketball program has increased leading to some speculation about William’s long-term status with the school. Scheduled guest Len Elmore, a fomer Terp player and college basketball analyst, defended Williams’ ability to run a clean and successful program.
