ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 5, 2017) – Twelve two-person teams will convene in South Florida at the QBE Shark Shootout, airing Friday-Sunday on Golf Channel and NBC. The duo of Harris English and Matt Kuchar (defending champions) will look to win the event for the third time in the past five years. The European Tour is in South Africa for the Joburg Open, where Louis Oosthuizen headlines the field in his home country, as the tournament serves as the second event in the 2018 Open Qualifying Series. The Ladies European Tour culminates its season with the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, airing live on Golf Channel Wednesday-Saturday morning. Tonight, the PGA of America stages the 2017 PGA Jr. League Golf National Championship, featuring eight teams of junior golfers competing at Grayhawk Golf Club in Arizona.

2nd Open Qualifying Event for 2018: This is the second event that falls under the 2018 Open Qualifying Series, with the top-three finishers (not already exempt) amongst the top-10 at week’s end earning a spot in the field at the 2018 Open next July at Carnoustie.
Course rotation: The field will complete one round on each of the two courses over the first two rounds, while the Firethorn course will be utilized for the final two rounds following a 36-hole cut.
Fichardt defends: Darren Fichardt finished one shot ahead of Paul Waring and Stuart Manley to claim his fifth European Tour win.

Format: Eight teams from across the United States are divided into two four-team divisions to compete in a series of round-robin, nine-hole matches utilizing a two-person scramble format. Captains are allowed to substitute players every three holes, so that all team members can participate.
