NBC is Only Network with Two NFL Primetime Packages

STAMFORD, Conn. – November 7, 2017 – Thursday Night Football returns to NBC this Thursday, Nov. 9, when Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks (5-3) travel to Glendale, Ariz., to face Adrian Peterson and the Arizona Cardinals (4-4). Coverage starts at 7:30 p.m. ET with Football Night in Arizona on NBC, the only network with two primetime NFL packages.

NBC’s season debut of Thursday Night Football features two teams vying for playoff positioning with eight games remaining in the season. The Seahawks, who aim for a sixth consecutive playoff berth, are currently the No. 7 seed behind Dallas in the NFC Playoff chase. The Cardinals, who have won two of their last three games, are only one game behind the Seahawks and Cowboys.

Seattle’s fourth-quarter rally against Washington on Sunday fell short as the Redskins defeated the Seahawks, 17-14, at CenturyLink Field. Wilson threw for two touchdowns in the final quarter, including a go-ahead, 30-yard touchdown pass to WR Doug Baldwin to give Seattle a 14-10 lead with 1:34 remaining. The Redskins responded with a game-winning, one-yard touchdown run by RB Robert Kelley with less than a minute to play. Through nine weeks, the Seahawks rank second in the NFL in passing yards per game (274.8).

Recently acquired running back Adrian Peterson led Arizona to a 20-10 victory over San Francisco on Sunday with a career-high 37 carries for 159 rushing yards. His rushing total against the 49ers is the third-most in a single game in NFL history by a running back 32 years or older (John Henry Johnson – 200; John Riggins – 165). In his three games with the Cardinals, Peterson has eclipsed the century mark twice. WR Larry Fitzgerald enters Thursday’s game 47 receiving yards shy of becoming just the sixth player in NFL history to amass 15,000 for his career.

The Seahawks and Cardinals meet for the fifth time in primetime. Arizona leads the all-time series, 18-17-1, while Seattle maintains a slight edge in primetime games, 2-1-1. The two franchises last played in primetime on NBC’s Sunday Night Football last October, a game that resulted in a 6-6 tie. In 2013, Seattle defeated Arizona 34-22 in the only other Thursday night meeting between the division rivals.

Calling Seahawks-Cardinals are Mike Tirico (play-by-play) and 16-time Emmy Award-winner Cris Collinsworth, joined by sideline reporter Heather Cox.

Liam McHugh will serve as the host of the Football Night in Arizona pregame show from Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. He will be joined on-site by Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungyand two-time Super Bowl champion Rodney Harrison.
