6/2 – TNT Has Record Month with NBA

The NBA Playoffs lifted TNT to the most-viewed month in primetime in the history of cable television. TNT had “the biggest month in cable history” during the month of May, according to a network press release. The network set cable records in primetime among total viewers (3.6M) and adults 18-34 (over 1.0M). The record numbers can be attributed to TNT’s coverage of the 2011 NBA Playoffs, which was the most-viewed in cable history. Each successive round of the postseason set a viewership record, with the Heat/Bulls Eastern Conference Finals averaging 10.413 million viewers over five games. During the playoffs, which began in April, TNT was the top rated network in primetime (broadcast or cable) six times among adults 18-34 and three times among adults 18-49, according to SMW.
