Sources tell The Sports Junkies on 106.7 the Fan in DC that Anthony Grant from Alabama was offered the University of Maryland basketball coaching job before Mark Turgeon. This news is contradictory to all early reports that Maryland’s first choice was current Arizona head coach Sean Miller. Grant’s name had not been mentioned by the media on the short list of coaches until now, but Maryland officials did a fairly good job of keeping their search out of the public eye until Sunday May 8, when Turgeon’s name was all but official.
