A top five clash between two of the highest profile teams in the country produced big numbers on ABC.
The Notre Dame/Florida State college football game drew an 8.5 overnight rating on ABC Saturday night, up 130% from FSU/Clemson last year (3.7), up 143% from FSU/Miami in 2012 (3.5), and the top overnight for any regular season game on the ESPN family of networks since Notre Dame/USC in 2012 (10.0).
The 8.5 is the fourth-highest in the eight-year history of ABC’s Saturday Night Football, trailing only Notre Dame/USC in 2012, Notre Dame/USC in 2006 (9.6) and Ohio State/Texas in 2006 (8.8).
Overall, the 8.5 is the highest for regular season college football on any network since last year’s Alabama/Auburn Iron Bowl on CBS (8.6), reports Sports Media Watch.
