Cowboys/Seahawks Gets 19.2 Overnight

Overnight ratings hit a season-high, and by a wide margin, for the NFL national window.

The Week 6 NFL national window, featuring Cowboys/Seahawks in 69% of markets, drew a 19.2 overnight rating on FOX Sunday — up 10% from coverage featuring Saints/Patriots last year (17.5) and up 19% from coverage featuring Giants/49ers in 2012 (16.1).

The 19.2 overnight is the highest for any NFL regular season telecast since 2011, when the Week 15 national window drew a 19.5 on CBS. It is also the highest for any Week 6 NFL telecast since at least 1997 — and likely further back than that.

For some perspective, the 19.2 overnight topped every college football since the Texas/USC Rose Bowl in 2006 (22.7), every Major League Baseball game since Red Sox/Cardinals Game 4 in 2004 (19.7) and every NBA game since Bulls/Jazz Game 6 in 1998 (22.9).

Earlier in the day, coverage featuring Packers/Dolphins in 46% of markets drew an 11.2 overnight — down 3% from coverage featuring Packers/Ravens last year (11.6) and down 3% from coverage featuring Cowboys/Ravens in 2012 (11.5), reports Sports Media Watch.
