Like Florida/Alabama on CBS earlier in the day, ABC’s Clemson/Florida State clash generated a big increase in overnights on Saturday.
The Clemson/FSU Saturday Night Football game drew a 4.9 overnight rating on ABC, up 58% from regional action last year (3.1) and up 53% from the same match-up in 2012 (3.2). Last year’s FSU/Clemson game, which aired in week eight, drew a 3.7 overnight.
The 4.9 for FSU’s victory is the second-highest college football overnight of the season, trailing only Florida/Alabama (5.1). Both Clemson/FSU and Florida/Alabama, it should be noted, were up by more than 50% over the comparable windows last year.
Earlier Saturday, regional action on ABC drew a 1.7 overnight — down 15% from last year (2.0) and down 29% from 2012 (2.4), and the network’s lowest college football overnight of the season, reports Sports Media Watch.
