Though down from last year, Saturday’s primetime game between Notre Dame and Purdue held its own with competition on the other networks.
The Purdue/Notre Dame college football game drew a 2.1 overnight rating on NBC Saturday night, down 25% from Oklahoma/Notre Dame in the afternoon last year (2.8) and down 13% from Miami/Notre Dame in primetime two years ago (2.4).
The 2.1 rating is the third-lowest for primetime Notre Dame football on NBC (ten telecasts), ahead of only Washington State/Notre Dame in 2009 (1.5) and Maryland/Notre Dame in 2011 (1.4).
Despite the lower numbers, the game did well relative to its competition. The 2.1 overnight tied UCLA/Texas on FOX and finished just a tick behind ABC’s Tennessee/Oklahoma Saturday Night Football game (2.2). None of the primetime games came close to the top game of the week — Georgia/South Carolina on CBS (4.2), reports Sports Media Watch.
